Mission
Music Starts From Silence (MSFS) is dedicated to the creation, performance, publication and recording of new musical works. The organization grew out of the performing ensemble, Loop 2.4.3, as MSFS was originally started as a record company to release Loop 2.4.3 recordings and publish the group’s original music. MSFS then became it’s own identity by producing successful concerts in New York City, involving a myriad of superb artists, including Erik Friedlander, Dafnis Prieto, John Amira, Emily Hope Price and others. MSFS also expanded its recording roster by signing Rachael Elliott, bassonist of the post-rock group Clogs, in 2011.
Polka the Elk, Rachael Elliott's first solo album, features the music of Padma Newsome (Clogs, The National), David Lang (Bang on a Can), and Tawnie Olson, with performances by Clogs. The label's second full-length release, Zodiac Dust, was Loop 2.4.3's first studio album. MSFS' first release, Batterie, is from a live radio performance by Loop 2.4.3 on KEXP in Seattle. All albums, as well as scores, and related merchandise are available through the MSFS store. There
are more scores and related recordings available directly and at discount from this site. If there's something you are looking for that you can't find - ask us!
Look for Loop 2.4.3's 3rd album and accompaying tour in early 2012.
